Malcolm Hayes
Blue Bloc · Field personnel of the Blue Bloc
Physical description
Estimated height in his normal form: 1.76 m. Chubby build, round face, and bald head. Short beard and glasses.
Education and training
He studied Mathematics at Tulane University. His professional work focuses on cryptanalysis, interpreting information, and military planning.
Career
He built his career as an analyst and strategist in FNC military intelligence. His participation in the EVERYMAN program produced a partially defective transformation. The military reached an agreement with The Haven Foundation and ALEC to keep him on active duty because of his analytical ability. He has no secret identity at work: his colleagues know about his condition.
Character and interests
Patient, friendly, and highly empathetic. He listens to others and remains approachable, far removed from the intimidating image he may project when transformed. He enjoys Cuban cigars.
Capabilities
He has an eidetic memory, which he applies to reports, historical records, and military scenarios. His training enables him to interpret information, assess operations, and anticipate an adversary's options. His mutation activates only when he is very angry and affects only his upper body: his head, shoulders, and arms gain enormous mass and strength, and the skin in that region becomes impenetrable. His legs retain their normal proportions, so he must support himself on his arms to move. When transformed, he retains his consciousness, personality, and reasoning ability. As soon as his anger subsides, the mutation disappears and he returns to his normal appearance.
Intelligence value
His work gives him access to military information and the criteria used to plan operations. He is valuable both for what he knows and for his ability to interpret an adversary's intentions and detect implications others might overlook.
Exploitable vulnerabilities
He is naturally cowardly and resorts to whiskey for courage. Intimidation can influence his behavior, and his drinking provides a means of exerting pressure on his professional performance.
