Psychotronics
Human transformation and abilities
Psychotronics encompasses exceptional abilities associated for centuries with magic and supernatural phenomena. Their origin remains unexplained. The hypothesis that they arise from brain mutations has neither been demonstrated nor made it possible to reproduce them under controlled conditions.
Abilities and scope
Their manifestations include telepathy, telekinesis, clairvoyance, premonition, and mind control. Each psychotronic possesses a particular ability, whose scope and applications vary from person to person.
Minor abilities produce limited effects; more powerful abilities allow different applications of the same faculty. Telepathy, for example, may range from reading thoughts to manipulating memories and perceptions. Possessing an ability does not imply mastery of every possible application.
Willpower and exertion
Using these abilities consumes the individual’s reserves of willpower. Exhaustion limits their activity, and pushing powers beyond those reserves can cause psychic damage and loss of control.
Psychotronics cannot develop the mutant abilities acquired through radiation.
Radiation and protection
Radiation interferes with psychotronic waves. Attempting to use an ability while exposed can cause unforeseen effects, overload, unconsciousness, or death. The source’s intensity, wounds, and exhaustion increase the danger.
Conventional armor does not protect against psychic damage, whose injuries do not respond to ordinary wound treatment and may require specialized psychological assistance.
Faraday Helmets protect against mind reading and mind control, but also prevent wearers from using their own psychotronic abilities.
Study and practice
In the IURR, the scientific study of these abilities predominates, seeking to understand them and develop their applications. Within the Blue Bloc’s secluded circles, their practice is also associated with mystical disciplines and esoteric traditions.
