Yadro

The Core, or Yadro, is a miniature nuclear reactor developed by the Atomic Academy and the closest advance toward nuclear fusion achieved to date. It powers machinery whose output, weight, and consumption would prevent conventional operation, supporting much of the IURR’s industrial and military capability.

Production and control

Cores are produced at CLASSIFIED — OMEGA-7 LEVEL. The Atomic Academy regulates their distribution and certifies the Vol’framin, specialists trained in Yadro Science, machinery operation, heavy mechanics, and the Tungsten Protocol. Access to the official supply depends on that authorization.

The Berlin Guild transports compact variants and associated equipment to the Blue Bloc’s black market.

Core-Powered Machinery

Core-Powered Machinery, or CPM, includes heavy tools, atomic cannons, Mechs, and mechanized suits. Reactor power allows operators to handle weights and forces beyond their physical abilities. Without an active Core, this equipment cannot function.

Cores also power Autonomous Mechanized Units and Chelovenchiki implants. Compact variants exist for integration into the human body, while the Jörmungandr uses an experimental Mega-Core of exceptional size and power.

Supply and replacement

Reactors become depleted and must be replaced. A machine can continue operating with fewer Cores than required, provided at least one remains active, but reliability declines and the risk of failures and overloads increases.

Replacement is straightforward in tools and cannons; in Mechs and mechanized suits, it requires time and assistance. The availability of spare reactors determines whether operations can continue.

Radiation and failures

Operating CPM releases radiation into the surrounding area. Exposure can cause poisoning, cancer, and mental disturbances. The Tungsten Protocol reduces these risks but does not eliminate them.

Radiation can also overload Everyman mutations and interfere with psychotronic abilities. Its presence can dangerously alter the course of a confrontation.

Insufficient power, poor-quality reactors, damage, and an untrained operator make failures worse. A direct hit on the reactor or the destruction of the machine can cause an explosion. Vol’framin training allows operators to reduce output to limit risks or push performance at the cost of increasing them.
