Nobel & Midland Chemicals
BLUE BLOC
N&M Chemicals
Nobel & Midland Chemicals conducted the research that made it possible to create superhumans through controlled radiation exposure. As EDO’s principal contractor, it implements the EVERYMAN program and occupies a central position in the development, use, and maintenance of the FNC’s superhuman abilities.
History
Nobel & Midland is a private company predating the FNC, built around the production, sale, and cleanup of chemical and radioactive products. One of its employees accidentally fell into a chamber full of harmful waste and, instead of dying, acquired superpowers and became the first Everyman. Nobel & Midland’s partners belonged to LUME; they introduced Liberty Vance to the union, helping bring about the revolution of 1935.
After the Great War, the FNC committed millions of dollars and resources to trying to reproduce Liberty Vance’s mutation under controlled conditions, creating the Evolutionary Defense Office for that purpose. Its first contract went to Nobel & Midland, which ultimately created the EVERYMAN Vats and Capsules.
Since then, the corporation has established a monopoly over mutant creation and research into EVERYMAN powers, and its position as EDO’s contractor is virtually permanent.
Strategic programs
Nobel & Midland Chemicals and ALEC sponsor The Haven Foundation, which cares for Everymen requiring assistance, rehabilitation, or support in retirement.
Under the powers granted by its EDO contracts, the company oversees all FNC projects based on biological modification. Its contribution to weapons development through the EVERYMAN Capsule has brought Nobel & Midland into the Blue Bloc’s military-industrial complex.
Despite its influential contributions, the company still presents itself publicly as a chemical products business, since the FNC keeps the existence of the EVERYMAN Vats secret.
