Motor Industries Petroleum Council

The MIPC is the agency through which the FNC’s major automobile manufacturers protect oil dependence in transportation. Its influence within LUME and the Columbian political system sustains a vehicle market that continues to use liquid fuels despite the development of nuclear energy.

Objectives and industrial policy

The Council’s priority is to prevent clean nuclear energy from becoming widespread in transportation. Maintaining oil-dependent vehicles protects its backers’ interests and shapes decisions about new propulsion technologies.

The abundance of nuclear electricity in the FNC has not ended that dependence. The MIPC influences the policies, investments, and commercial conditions determining which technologies reach the automobile market.

Supply and foreign operations

The model’s survival requires available, affordable fuel. The Council promotes alternative oil operations, negotiates supply agreements, and backs initiatives limiting the ability of third parties to restrict oil supplies or raise prices.

Its activities include covert operations against interests threatening the supplies or prices the industry needs. Funding and corporate influence allow it to act beyond FNC borders, particularly in the Middle East. Many wars, conflicts, and coups in oil-producing nations have been financed or orchestrated by the Council.

Competition with EDO

The MIPC has always been deeply skeptical of any use of nuclear energy, including the EVERYMAN program. After the Montevideo Disaster, it was the Council that publicized the scandal and forced the FNC government to investigate and impose restrictions.

Decades of advertising campaigns and propaganda have fostered a degree of nuclear paranoia and skepticism about nuclear power plants among the Columbian population. The Council’s ultimate goal is a radical change in FNC energy policy.
